Vamped by Lucienne Diver
In one word: Refreshing
In summary: A fun, light-hearted romp!
Seventeen-year-old Gina hooks up with geek-turned-hottie Bobby at the after prom party, but that’s not the worst thing that happens to the fashionista. She’s in a car accident and wakes up six feet under only to discover she’s been vamped. And she’s got no idea how it happened, at least not until Vamp-in-shining-armor Bobby shows up with his pale face and sharp canines. The worst part? She no longer has a reflection.
Gina and Bobby take refuge at her house only to find themselves vamp-napped and at the mercy of vampire Barbie Queen Melisande. Turns out the blonde queen of the undead is raising a vampire army—consisting of Gina’s classmates—to take on the vampire council. But Gina and Company decide they don’t want to be her cannon fodder, and it’s up to Gina to save the day. She must defeat Mellisande and her minions, a psycho psychic uber vamp and the Council. Piece of cake.
And then, just when things are looking up, the Feds show up with an offer the young vamps can’t refuse.
What's to love: Gina may not be on the honor roll but she’s got a sharp-tongue, and what she lacks in the brains department, she more than makes up for with valley-girl guts and sheer determination. Her boyfriend-slash-sire, Bobby, with his gentle personality and geekiness, is a perfect contrast. This is a fast, fun read reminiscent of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
